Barbara Welling

Barbara completed her bachelor’s degree in Soil, Water and Atmosphere at Wageningen University and is currently pursuing the master’s program Earth & Environment, specialising in meteorology. For her thesis, she used the Weather and Research Forecast (WRF) model to investigate how Arctic extreme weather such as cold air outbreaks, polar lows and cloud streets—is influenced by changes in sea ice and sea surface temperature. Barbara is following her graduation internship at Weather Impact, during which she will use machine learning to refine the resolution of seasonal forecasts. She is eager to apply her meteorological expertise and contribute to innovative solutions for tackling climate change.
